Mountain View Light Rail Double Track Efficiency Project Phases 1 & 2, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA: LA was responsible for providing a Systems Integration Manager, Systems Construction Manager, System Test Manager, Rail Activation Manager, Safety Certification Manager, and Systems Inspectors. We were responsible for managing all systems construction along with trackwork, testing and commissioning and completing the CPUC certification for this light rail double track project, which also included Caltrain construction and coordination. LA was responsible for signaling, communications, overhead contact system, traction power substations upgrades, traffic signal controller interfaces, station systems, power distribution, combined system ductbank, track, special trackwork and switches.

Mountain View Light Rail Double Track Efficiency Project Phases 1 & 2, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA

Sound Transit University Link (LRT Subway), Seattle: Provided construction management support and systems inspection, as well as testing and commissioning support for communications, signal system, systemwide electrical and integration with the existing fiber optic network, overhead contact system, traction power substations, track, tunnels, and stations. Subsystems included the fiber optic network, tunnel/cross passage and underground communications systems, radio/data systems, fire alarm, tunnel ventilation, SCADA/train control/signals, passenger information systems, variable message signs, public address systems, cross passage, control stations/central control hardware/software, CCTV system, and emergency telephones.

VTA Light Rail System Systemwide Improvements 20+ Projects), San Jose, Santa Clara VTA: LA completed more than 20 planning, design and construction management projects outside of line extension projects, for existing system upgrades including: North & South Line PA/communications upgrade design (Guadalupe), San Jose/VTA Traffic Controller network, TVM/Translink planning & design, TVM/Network design, VTA Administrative/O&M Network links, Operations Control Center Overview Display/Console ergonomics, UPS Power System for OCS control circuits, Train Identification System/Signals TWC design Younger Yard/South Line, Fiber Cabling planning systemwide, WiFi/WiMesh/WiMax site investigation, preliminary design and feasibility study systemwide; Centralized Traffic Control compiled systemwide georeferenced/GIS base map, SCADA upgrade planning, TVM network separation planning, PA site & sound quality survey & report for all stations, SCADA central control programming/configuration, SCADA 65 Node Network CPUC Safety/Security Certification, Legacy SONET System Removal/As Built Preparation/Cable Management (65 sites), Fiber Optic Network design Trankslink/IT/CCTV (65 sites), Smart Corridor planning and coordination with the city of San Jose and county of Santa Clara, and Control Center Upgrades. The VTA system has 42 miles of light rail, with 100 light rail vehicles.

Lick Mill and Hetch Hetchy Crossovers, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA: Our firm was responsible for managing all systems construction, testing/commissioning and safety certification for these crossovers. We wrote the test procedures, performed integration testing, and prepared the safety certification verification report required by the SCVTA rail system safety review board. We were responsible for the overhead contact system, signaling, switches, track and traction power distribution including track negative return bonding for the TPSS.

Lick Mill and Hetch Hetchy Crossovers, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA

Silicon Valley Rapid Transit, Berryessa Extension (SVBX), Bay Area Rapid Transit System: Providing construction management services, including inspection and design support, review of contractor submittals, system testing and commissioning. Our responsibilities include the fiber optic network, new equipment buildings, installation of cabling through existing ductbank 15 miles to the River Oaks and Younger facilities, and integration with other BART subsystems.

Silicon Valley Rapid Transit, Berryessa Extension (SVBX), Bay Area Rapid Transit System

Downtown East Valley-Capitol Light Rail System, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA: Provided planning, design services for systems and civil elements, including communications, fare collection, control center upgrades and integration with stations, substations, signaling, track, overhead contact system. We completed a 95% design in 2008 along with all other disciplines, project full funding was finally obtained and we are finalizing the design in 2017. This system is 2.6 miles in length, with 3 stations.

Downtown East Valley-Capitol Light Rail System, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA

Tasman West Light Rail System, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA: Provided planning, design and construction management services, resident engineers, inspectors, contract administration. This included systems and civil elements (communications, fare collection, integration with substations, overhead contact system, signaling, track, stations, maintenance facility, and control center). The system is 7.6 miles in length, with 12 passenger stations from the Baypointe Transfer Station to the Mountain View Station.

Tasman East Light Rail System, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA: Provided design and construction management services, resident engineers, inspectors, contract administration. Our work included systems and civil subsystems (communications, fare collection, integration with substations, overhead contact system, signaling, track, stations, maintenance facility, and control center), for this 6 station, 4.9 mile extension, from the Baypointe Transfer Station to Hostetter Road. The project includes 1.4 miles of elevated guideway.

Tasman East/Capitol-Hostettor Light Rail System, Valley Transportation Authority, San Jose CA -- Provided design and construction management services, resident engineers, inspectors, contract administration. Our work included systems and civil elements (communications, fare collection, integration with substations, overhead contact system, signaling, track, stations, maintenance facility, and control center), for this 4 station, 3.3 mile extension, from Hostetter Road to Alum Rock Station.

Fastracks I-225 Light Rail System, Denver RTD: Responsible for design and construction support for communications, automated fare collection, signal system network, control center, systemwide electrical and systems integration with signals, traction power substations, overhead contact system, at grade and elevated stations, track, and other transit system LRT and Commuter Rail extensions. Communications included the fiber optic network, SCADA system, CCTV for stations and park-n-ride lots (202 cameras), emergency telephones, public address/variable message sign system.

Fastracks I-225 Light Rail System, Denver RTD

Guadalupe Light Rail System, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA: Provided design and construction management services, resident engineers, inspectors, contract administration, and stakeholder meeting facilitation support. This project was an upgrade to the existing 18 mile, 27 station system and maintenance facility. Our work included systems and civil subsystems (communications, fare collection, control center, integration with substations, overhead contact system, signaling, track, stations, and maintenance facility).

Sacramento RT (Systemwide), Sacramento Regional Transit District: Provided design and construction management services for security/closed circuit television systems at 50 passenger stations, as part of a Homeland Security upgrade project.

Vasona Light Rail System, San Jose, Santa Clara VTA: Provided design and construction management services, resident engineer, inspection, and contract administration. Our work included communications, fare collection, control center and integration with traction power substations, overhead contact system, signaling, track, stations, and maintenance facility, for this 8 station, 5.3 mile extension, from Downtown San Jose to Winchester Station. The VTA rail fleet is 100 LRT vehicles. The project included elevated guideway and a tunnel section under the Caltrain Commuter Rail.

Detroit Downtown People Mover/LRT, Detroit Transportation Commission/UTDC: Provided design, construction management, and system integration testing services for this elevated 3.0 mile, 12 station system, including work on the elevated concrete guideway, trackwork, third rail/power rail system, traction power substations, power distribution substations and switchgear, fully automated driverless moving block train control system hardware and software, systemwide electrical, operations and maintenance building, control center, data center, stations, automated fare collection system/turnstiles, communications systems, SCADA system and software, O&M staffing planning, vehicle maintenance software system, and Kingston, Ontario test track system evaluation/testing.

Caltrain Commuter Railroad (77 miles), San Francisco-Gilroy, Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board 25+ Projects: LA completed work on more than 25 design and construction management projects, including communications master plan, wireless master plan/PTC integration with California High Speed Rail, provided stakeholder meeting facilitation support, interviewed project stakeholders, and prepared strategic and master plans for improvements, centralized traffic control upgrade and CAD/AVL evaluation, preliminary station communications upgrades including public address (PA), variable message signs (VMS), CCTV at 34 stations; station CCTV at 4 stations and CCTV at 4th/King San Francisco and Diridon yards (142 cameras), CEMOF San Jose yard facility CCTV (O&M Facility, 5 buildings & yard), 6 station CCTV system, Diridon Station Infrared Audible (Talking) Sign System, WiMax Passenger Internet design and RFP preparation, integrated PA/VMS messaging system, Communications upgrades for Burlingame, California Ave, Palo Alto, Broadway, Atherton including PA, VMS, LAN/WAN, Translink CID, TVM, and provisions for future CCTV; Translink/CID fare collection site preparation project for 34 stations, PA site/sound quality survey 21 stations, Public Address System design for 23 stations, Caltrain radio narrowband upgrade, Digicon Centralized Traffic Control software replacement, Police Substation CCTV system, North/South CTX ATCS 900 MHz data radio system 19 40-80 ft. towers, Peoplesoft software design/development/implementation, business process improvement evaluation/analysis.

Silicon Valley Rapid Transit, Fremont-San Jose, Bay Area Rapid Transit System: Provided preliminary design services for communications, security, freight rail intrusion system, portal intrusion detection system and integration with the train control system for the Silicon Valley Rapid Transit 16 mile, 6 station extension of the BART system serving Milpitas, San Jose and Santa Clara, including the Phase I at grade/elevated portion and Phase II 5 mile tunnel/subway section in downtown San Jose.

San Diego Trolley Blue/Orange Light Rail Lines, Metropolitan Transportation Development Board: Responsible for design of communications systems, passenger information systems and signaling interfaces, for the Blue and Orange Light Rail Lines, which includes 35 passenger stations.

San Mateo County Transit District CCTV Systems design, San Mateo CA -- Provided design and construction management services for fixed cameras, low light cameras, video servers, DVRs, networking equipment, mounting/wiring details, fiber cabling/converters, enclosures/blowers, power distribution upgrades, conduit, wiring, for California Ave., Atherton, Broadway, Burlingame, Palo Alto stations. Reconfigured design drawing and specifications into separate bid packages after completing the combined package at the request of the client, so overall station reconstruction could be bid separately. Reviewed the CCTV system design completed by another consultant at Hillsdale station, and provided direction to the agency on how to fix the design problems which had been found in the field during installation, including preparation of drawings.

FasTracks Light Rail & Commuter Rail (Systemwide) 7 Projects, Denver, Denver RTD: Provided planning, stakeholder meeting facilitation support, report preparation, presentations to management for projects, site evaluation report, and design services for this light rail system, including communications systems for light rail, commuter rail vehicles and facilities. Completed facility inspections and evaluations. Projects included CAD/AVL, Voice & Data Radio, Radio Propagation Analysis and Report for existing and new proposed radio systems, Radio System Narrowband Replacement Report, Industry surveys for new technology systems, WiFi System design for 7 bus facilities to support ERP, CCTV and other systems for the initial system and later on for an upgrade to new equipment. Developed a new fiber optic network topology for use systemwide to resolve lack of trunk fiber.

Hiawatha Light Rail System, Minneapolis, Metropolitan Council/Metro Transit: Responsible for preliminary design of communications, security, tunnel communications systems, and airport interfaces, for this 12.3 mile, 19 station system. The system includes 27 light rail vehicles.

Sound Transit Light Rail (Systemwide), Seattle: Provided project and construction management, design support services for this light rail system, including communications systems, infrared signage for passenger stations and vehicles, and prepared a Remote Infrared Audible Sign (RIAS) Model Program Report that was submitted to congress for this prototypical system, which was deployed not only for LRT, but commuter rail, buses, and at the Sea-Tac Airport. The LRT transit system includes 17.4 miles of track, 17 passenger stations and 38 vehicles.

Sounder Commuter Rail System (Systemwide), Seattle: Provided project and construction management, design support services for this commuter rail system, including communications systems, infrared signage for passenger stations and vehicles, the transit system includes 83 miles of track, 12 passenger stations and 38 vehicles.
